In order to renew a French trademark, the following indications are necessary :
The owner
Name and address of the owner : First name and Name (underlined) for a natural person ; legal name and legal form for a Company.
If an assignement has been registered : the number of the recordal of the act of transfer in the French Trademark Register.
The trademark
we need to know whether the trademark is a French one or an international one
- the sign
- filing date
- registration number
- number of the French Bulletin of the Industrial Property (BOPI) in which the registration has been published. If the trademark has already been renewed, the BOPI to be indicated is the one of the last renewal.
When it occurs, indication of a partial renunciation, nullity, forfeiture or decision relating to the registration.
The designated goods and/or services
Indication of the international classes concerned by the renewal (all initial classes or only a part)
Some goods and/or services may not be renewed; in such a case we need to know the list of goods and/or services which shall be renewed.
When the new edition of the Nice Classification applies to the designated goods (in particular for services of former class 42), the French Office shall reclassify the goods and services without payment of new fees.
New trademark application
When renewing a trademark, it is possible to file at the same time a new application in order to designate additionnal goods and/or services or to slightly amend a figurative mark. It is then possible to combine the new application and the renewal so as only one renewal shall be necessary in the future.
