For European patents with a granting date after November 1st, it is no longer necessary to translate the entire text of the patent in Finnish to validate the patent in Finland.
When the text of the patent is in English, it is sufficient to file a Finnish translation of the claims.
When the text of the patent is in French or German, it is necessary to file an English translation of the description in addition to a Finnish translation of the claims.
Finland is the 17th country to adopt the London Agreement, which aim to reduce translation costs related to the validation of a European patent.
