Facebook and Trademarks
June - 2009
Since 13/06/2009, Facebook enables its users to register URL addresses of the type Facebook/your trademark.
This aims at making the search easier on the social network, by an easily identifiable address. The registrations are available according to the first-come-first-served rule. In case of a registration interfering with an intellectual property right, Facebook provided an offence declaration against the intellectual property rights, enabling the intellectual property rights holders to prevent this registration.
Previous : PDO, PGI, AOC … amendments and suppression of the symbols
