France has ratified the patent law treaty (PLT)

On 24/07/2009, France ratified (Law n° 2009-892 of 24/07/2009) the patent law treaty (PLT), adopted at Geneva on 01/06/2000.

The aim of the PLT is to harmonize and streamline formal procedures in respect of national and regional patent applications and patents, and thus to make such procedures more user-friendly and less cost-effective. (see the

Today, 53 States and 1 Intergovernmental organisation (the EPO) have signed the PLT. The PLT is entered in force on 28/04/2005.
