CTM fee reduction

As you may know, the cost of the Community Trademarks will soon be reduced.
Indeed, procedure of paying an application fee and later a registration fee will be changed and a single fee will apply very soon, in early May 2009, the exact date depending on the publication in the Official Journal.The reduction will be as follows:For a CTM (up to 3 classes) filed and registered before May 2009:application : 750 EUR (official fee)registration : 850 EUR (official fee).For a CTM (up to 3 classes) filed and registered after May 2009:application : 900 EUR (official fee)registration : 0 EUR (official fee).Furthermore, there will be an exceptionnal transitional period : Indeed, for CTM already filed, but for which OHIM has not issued the request for payment in May, the applicant will not have to pay the current registration fee. For these applicants, the total amount for filing and registering a CTM therefore corresponds to the application fees only.As the registration notification is sent at least three months after the publication date of the CTM, an application filed before the date of entry will obviously benefit of this exceptionnal transitional period.If any of your clients are anticipating to file a CTM, it should be done in April…
