From 1 December 2017 and the entry into force of the agreement on validation of European patents between the European Patent Office (EPO) and Tunisia, European patent applications and patents will be possibly validated in Tunisia and be granted an essentially similar protection as patents granted by the EPO.Only European or International applications filed on or after 1 December 2017 will be possibly validated in Tunisia. The validation fee is EUR 180 and must be paid to the EPO within six months of the date on which the European Patent Bulletin mentions the publication of the European search report, or, where applicable, within the period for performing the acts required for an international application's entry into the European phase. With the entry into force of this agreement, the geographic coverage of European patents is now of 43 states.<link http: projects babylon eponet.nsf coverage_of_european_patents_map_as_of_1.12.2017_en.jpg>$File/coverage_of_european_patents_map_as_of_1.12.2017_en.jpg<link https: law-practice legal-texts official-journal a85.html>
