New validation country for European patent applications: Lao People’s Democratic Republic

Lao People’s Democratic Republic became the sixth validation country for European patent applications, after Morocco, the Republic of Moldova, Tunisia, Cambodia and Georgia.

The agreement took effect as from April 1, 2024. All direct European patent applications and Euro-PCT applications with a filing date as from April 1, 2024 will be able to designate Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

The validation fee for Lao People’s Democratic Republic  is of 180 EUR and must be paid with the same delay as the designation fee.

Validation steps are then required within 3 months from publication of mention of grant.
